Appearance and Apprehension are two key terms and objects of study in Phenomenology since Husserl.
It could be said in a general sense that our external perceptions are made up of a mixture of presentation and appresentation. Thus, when I see a table it only for a certain angle. nonetheless, the appearance of the table from a specific angle does not prevent me for apprehending it as a whole. This, in simple phenomenological words, means that apperance and apprehension are not the same thing, and that we we apprehend is not limited by what appears.
